Uzalo still a hit among SA viewers

SABC1 soapie Uzalo remains in the top spot as the most watched show in South Africa

According to the Television Audience Measurement Statistics, SABC1 soap Uzalo remains Mzansi’s most watched show, with 8,42 million viewers.

In second place is Generations: The Legacy with 8,36 million viewers, and Skeem Saam secured the third spot with just under 6 million viewers.

In 2015, Uzalo knocked Generations from its number one spot just five months after airing. This was after more than a decade of Generations holding its own in the prime-time slot, even after the popular soap was rebooted with a new cast and name.

SABC2’s flagship soap Muvhango remained the most watched show on the channel, with more than 6 million viewers. It was followed by the Live Lotto Draw and Afrikaans soapie 7de Laan, which has 1,65 million viewers.

SABC3’s most popular show is international soap The Bold and the Beautiful, followed by local soapie Isidingo.

Mzansi Magic

It comes as no surprise that Mzansi Magic’s gripping show Isibaya is the channel’s number one programme, with 1,15 million viewers. It’s followed by Sunday show Our Perfect Wedding, with 1 million viewers, and popular dating show Date My Family, with 682 000 viewers.

Scandal! is etv’s most enjoyed show, with 4,86 million viewers, followed by Rhythm City with just over 3 million viewers.
