TOP 10 PSL players of 2015

TOP 10 PSL players of 2015,

KHAMA BILLIAT (Mamelodi Sundowns): He can be frustrating to watch, but also devastating. He doesn't always get it right and probably should score more goals, but his ability and vision, and the attacking threat he poses in setting up chances for teammates, make him key for Downs.

At R8-million, he is the most expensive player to move between PSL clubs. He is repaying the faith Sundowns showed in luring him from Ajax Cape Town in 2013.

JEREMY BROCKIE(SuperSport United): Nobody has scored more goals in the PSL in 2015 than New Zealander Brockie - 16 times in all competitions. He scored in his first four games for his team after joining from Wellington Phoenix in January and was the reported subject of a massive offer from Sundowns in the last transfer window. He doesn't do tap-ins either, with some spectacular strikes among his goals.

ANDREA FILECCIA(Free State Stars): Fileccia did not play for Stars at all in the first half of the year but has made a huge impression in the second half of the campaign.

It's ironic that the club tried to offload him at the end of the previous season, but he insisted they honour his contract and he has rewarded them with six goals in his first six starts. There is a quality to his play that has flourished under coach Ernst Middendorp.

MOENEEB JOSEPHS (Bidvest Wits): The 35-year-old veteran remains among the top goalkeepers in the league and a model of consistency for Wits. He is not only a fine glove-man but also a great leader at the back. His experience is key, while he appears to have lost none of his lightning reflexes despite his age.

DAINE KLATE (SuperSport United-Bidvest Wits): Klate spent the first six months of the year on loan at Matsatsantsa before becoming a Student when his deal at Orlando Pirates ran out. He did okay at SuperSport but has really rolled back the years to put in a number of magnificent displays for Wits and has been a major reason why they head the table at the turn of the year.

GEORGE LEBESE (Kaizer Chiefs): Lebese scored 10 goals for Chiefs in 2015, a fine return for a midfielder, and seems to have the knack of netting important ones too. Every time he scored, Amakhosi won the game, proving himself to be a lucky charm. After years of underachievement, he finally looks to have matured into the excellent PSL player many believed he could become.

PHAKAMANI MAHLAMBI (Wits): The national under-23 star has only burst onto the scene in the second half of the year but has made a huge impact and played his part in getting Wits to the top of the table. The 18-year-old has pace to burn, is skilful with the ball at his feet and created numerous opportunities for teammates. He has managed a couple of goals of his own too.

TEFU MASHAMAITE (Chiefs): Mashamaite was a rock at the back for Chiefs and makes our list despite leaving the PSL midway through the year to eventually pursue a career in Sweden with Hacken. He won the PSL Player of the Season and was also Chiefs Player of the Season. They have looked more brittle at the back without him, which is perhaps the biggest testament to his abilities.

COLLINS MBESUMA (Mpumalanga Black Aces): Mbesuma has been a player reborn in the second half of the year, profiting from the strict diet imposed on him that has seen the Zambian forward shed more than 7kg. His increased mobility, to go with a sharp striker's instinct, has been rewarded with goals and he is on course to become the leading marksman in this campaign.

BONGANI ZUNGU (Sundowns): Zungu has become among the hottest properties in the PSL this season and looks to be on his way out of the club, perhaps as soon as January. That's because a number of European teams have shown an interest in the 23-year-old, who is a power in the midfield and has great playmaking ability.
