BUCS SECURE SPOT IN SEMIS!,

ORLANDO Pirates booked their place in the semifinals of Caf Confederations Cup following a 2-0 victory over Congo Brazzaville side AC Leopards at Orlando Stadium last night.

Mpho Makola and captain Oupa Manyisa scored the vital goals that brought the joy to Bucs fans who packed the venue.

Pirates now head the standings on 12 points and are three points ahead of Zamalek who meet CS Sfaxien away today. Bucs will meet Zamalek in their last group match away in Cairo on 12 September.

Pirates created plenty of clear cut scoring chances especially in the second half, but their finishing was not up to scratch with striker Thamsanqa Gabuza the main culprit.

Gabuza missed a great chance to break the stalemate in the fifth minute with only keeper Lawrence Ngoe to beat following a terrific cross from Kermit Erasmus.

Leopards striker Cesair Gandze could not believe it as his goal bound shot in the eighth minute deflected off defender Ayanda Gcaba to force a corner. Bucs goalkeeper Felipe Ovono stood between Leopards midfielder Tychique Kalema and the opener in the 17th minute when he pushed his shot to safety following a blunder by Rooi Mahamutsa who cleared the ball into his path.

Pirates midfielder Mpho Makola justified his call-up in the Bafana Bafana squad to face Mauritania when connected to a Erasmus cross in the 33rd minute to unleash a thunderous low shot from the edge of penalty box giving Ngoe no chance to score his third goal in a row.

Gabuza looked rusty in front of goal as he failed to direct his diving header into the net the 50th minute with Ngoe at his mercy following a great cross from Sifiso Myeni.

Manyisa doubled the lead in the 87th minute when he connected to Majoro’s terrific cross and outstretched his leg to put the ball into the net.

Yesterday’s PSL results: University of Pretoria 3–0 Polokwane City; Mamelodi Sundowns 4–2 Bidvest Wits; Black Aces 1–1 SuperSport United.
