Its weird see black people of the same tribe talking to each other ekasi in English- The only time I speak in english with another black man is if I am in the company of others who don't understand Siswati.

people lack pride in their own languages, they revolt against it but I don't blame them, its generations of colonisation and we are just the after effects

I agree with u- its a universal language, no doubt about that but nobody is saying stop conversing in English- This simply promotes self love, love of native languages- U get my point? Yes we learned it in primary school in a country rules by westerners- Since our country is ruled by us Aficans don't u think maybe, just maybe we should teach our future generation in their own native tongues? NB: I am not saying do away with English since we need it in this white man's world

Have u ever noticed that black people will laugh at people's comments made in "broken english", make jokes about it all day long and act is if they are correcting them yet I have never seen ANYONE correct mistakes made in Xhosa, Venda, Siswati or any other South African language?

Which other language did u expect me to write in? I was brainwashed from birth to speak, read and write in english- I am however teaching myself how to write in Siswati since that's what I speak at home.

even if the government can say here's a school, we want to teach your child in Setswana. You are the one who is gonna say that school is low class and take your child to an english primary in town. Let us stop pointing fingers for a change and take a hard look in the mirror. Simple ? someone write 4 me syphilis, fungui, lymphnode, aljebraic equation, arithmatic, zinjantropus, homohabilis, zygote, tuberclosis, elasticty of demand, cumulonimbus clouds, nimbostratus. just a few words in ur mother tongue.?

If you can speak, read and write your mother tongue fluently and still be able to speak english and other languages well, then what gives you the right to deny your child the opportunity to become multi-lingual like you? Why is it that Black parents continue to equate english with wisdom?

i'm sure we can find ways to describe all those words in our mother tongue, the same way we found the name for aids in our mother tongues. Where there's a will, there's always a way!

Stop equating language with widom, that is what I agree with bcos if u go to other African countries they still speak French & Portuguese,so it does not mean that bcos one is of a particular colour they are supposed to speak a certain language, let us stop bng stereotypical n look for solutuions on how we can improve our lives.
